OK Kenilworth
Horizon is so excited to bring OK Motels out of their home state of Victoria for the first time and head to beautiful Kenilworth in Kabi Kabi Country.
From Friday, May 9th, until Saturday, May 10th, we’ll be bringing together a bunch of new friends.
Our weekend in Kenilworth will be soundtracked by Radium Dolls, Nice Biscuit, Marina Allen (USA), Betty Taylor, JB Paterson, Skyscraper Stan, SCRAPS, and Uncle Bob’s Jug Band, taking place across three venues: Kenilworth Hotel, Kenilworth Bowls Club, and Kenilworth Hall.
In addition to the music, there will be a roster of daytime activities with locals and Kabi Kabi Elder Aunty Helena Gulash, welcoming you deeper into Kenilworth.
OK Motels was founded in 2018 and continues to be a welcoming space for both locals and visitors alike. We invite you to lean against the bar and stay a little longer. No matter where you’re coming from, Kenilworth will be your home for the weekend.

Creative Team
- Kate Berry — Creative Director/Founder of OK Motels
Kate Berry is the Founder of OK Motels, and lives and works on Wadawurrung Country. Her work brings together unlikely characters through the common speak of music, art and good company to form communities. Hosting events that talk loudly about the far off nooks of rural Victoria, Berry doesn’t need gimmicks or billboards saying, “If you lived here you would be home by now”, to get you there, just some noise and a bit going on.
From Charlton to Geelong, and more on the horizon, OK Motels brings locals and blow-ins together in ways worth remembering. A good time out bush set against the backdrop of Australia’s best musical acts, the likes of Amyl and the Sniffers, Tropical F%#k Storm, Julia Jacklin, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and The Murlocs.
Off the back of launching the cafe Switch Board in Melbourne’s CBD, Berry sparked a flame that has only spread. A love affair for creating community experience in overlooked places that has carried through in all that she does. From photographing for Frankie and Smith Journal, to launching Lunch Lady Magazine, Berry puts good use to the tool belt gained in her years in advertising and marketing. A fancy for delivering a good yarn to the masses, while remaining authentic and in touch with the communities she finds herself in.
Radium Dolls
Radium Dolls are a fierce rock band from Meanjin/Brisbane who captivate audiences with their dynamic live shows. Their recent EP 'All Doll'd Up' showcases the bold single 'Tractor Parts', earning them triple j radio play and 4ZZZ album of the week. Honest and authentic, Radium Dolls are the real deal.
Nice Biscuit
Since the release of their debut LP in 2018, Nice Biscuit have founded a unique style of psych-rock influenced by krautrock, garage and modern psych. Nice Biscuit transcends the classic psych hallmarks of fuzzy guitars and repetitive rhythms with the performance and vocal harmonies of co-front women, Billie Star and Grace Cuell who use constant harmonies throughout each song to create a distinct voice within the sonic landscape of Nice Biscuit. A trademark of Billie and Grace includes creating, and designing outfits which draw you further into a world of their making. With layers of swirling harmonies, precise instrumentation and striking visuals, Nice Biscuit has garnered a reputation for captivating live shows and immersive song writing.
Betty Taylor
Betty Taylor is the friend who holds your hand after your heart's been broken. The band is made up of Sophie Patrick, whose indie hooks and sincere and often tongue in cheek lyrics are complemented by Kayla Smart (AKA Dorah Jacson)'s beautiful harmonies and wistful guitar riffs. Helping to strike this perfect balance between power and charm are Claire Chittick on bass and Katie Ishaque on drums.
Marina Allen (US)
A new Marina Allen album comes like the first day of Spring. The sky has blued; a clear air descends. Through the green fuse drives a flower. Across two introductory records, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has ripened a rare harvest, but her third studio album is an arrival home. Taking fragments and stories from Marina’s past, ‘Eight-Pointed Star’ deftly weaves together a new future, in what feels for all the world like a glittering, clear-eyed modern classic of alternative folk and Americana.
