Jarjum Life Museum
Jarjum Life Museum is a collection of contemporary, original artworks created and curated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children (jarjum) living on Kabi Kabi Country.
Intertwining exploration, visual arts, storytelling, photography, soundscapes and culture, Jarjum Life Museum documents the life of the jarjum – their here and now, and what life is like growing up today.
Jarjum Life Museum, at Horizon, will be created in partnership with Murrawarra and lead artist Dimitie Smith (Wiradjuri) and the works will be displayed at Opening Night Street Party, Yauar Warai Wandi – Sing, Dance, Gather, and The Last Sunday.

Dimitie Smith (Wiradjuri)
Dimitie Smith, a proud Dharawal and Wiradjuri woman, lives on Kabi Kabi Country with her four children. Raised in the Illawarra, she was immersed in her culture from an early age, learning her mob’s traditions, stories, and songs. These experiences continue to shape her life and artistry. Through her work, Dimitie honors the beauty, resilience, and deep connection of her people to Country. Committed to truth-telling and cultural storytelling, she shares her "deadly" culture with pride, ensuring it is recognized, respected, and celebrated for future generations through the knowledge passed down from her elders.
Inala Wangarra
At Inala Wangarra, our vision is clear: we aim for our people to be strong, prosperous, and proud. Rooted in culture, spirit, and identity, we believe in the inherent strengths and resources within our community and people.
Our name, Wangarra, holds deep significance. Gifted to us by the renowned Elder Uncle Albert Holt of the Bidjara people, it means "One people" or "All people." This ethos echoes in everything we do, fostering unity and inclusivity.
