Light Line - Jinibara
Kabi Kabi and Jinibara have been singing at dusk and dawn since their first sunrise.
Light Line is two new First Nations music works, which embed sound at two specific locations, one on Kabi Kabi and one on Jinibara Country — capturing the majic in the changing light of dusk and dawn.
Featuring Kabi Kabi and Jinibara languages, the work(s) celebrate the significance of the horizon: the meeting point of the water with sky and the majestic canopy lines.
Experience a moment of solitude, and reflection, as you listen to the stories and voices of this country that have always been here.
Light Line - Kabi Kabi Country can be experienced in Ocean St, Maroochydore as part of the Festival Precinct and Light Line - Jinibara Country at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve.
Light Line was commissioned for Horizon 2025.

Deline Briscoe (Yalanji)
Deline Briscoe, a Yalanji woman of song from Far North Queensland’s Daintree Region, has a career spanning over two decades. She has collaborated with renowned artists like Archie Roach, Paul Kelly, and Emma Donovan and toured globally with Black Arm Band and Mission Songs Project.
As an Artistic Director, she crafts powerful storytelling performances, including Blaktivism (2021–2024), Singing Up Country (2022–2024), and A Heartfelt Tribute to Uncle Archie Roach (2023). Passionate about music’s healing power, Deline shares her artistry to uplift both audiences and her own spirit, keeping culture alive through song and storytelling.
Jason Murphy (Jinibara)
Jinibara artist Jason Murphy grew up in Brisbane’s West End and maintains strong ties to his Country, which stretches from Mt Nebo to Mapleton and Kilcoy. His artistic journey began at age seven, inspired by his brother’s drawing.
Jason’s work tells stories of people and place, evolving with each new influence. Rejecting rigid artistic definitions, he believes culture is always growing and alive: “If we categorize it in a way that diminishes its growth, we diminish our own.” His art embodies this fluidity, blending tradition and innovation to reflect the ever-changing narratives of his community and Country.
Will Murphy (Jinibara)
Will Murphy is a Jinibara man and a Brisbane-based guitarist and songwriter with a passion for contemporary music. Over the past eight years, he’s toured extensively across Australia and internationally in New Zealand, refining his craft and building a strong presence on the live music scene.
With an album and three EPs to his name, Will has a wealth of studio experience and has collaborated with numerous artists across different genres. He specializes in roots, blues, and RnB, blending these influences to create a sound that’s both fresh and authentic.
Alongside his performing career, Will works as a music educator, teaching guitar to students of all ages since 2020. His dedication to both his art and his community shines through in his work, whether he’s on stage or in the classroom.
