23 Jan: Artist Talk with Abdul Abdullah
Join artist Abdul Abdullah in the space of his group exhibition Violent Salt, co curated by Yhonnie Scarce and Claire Watson. Abdul Abdullah is an artist from Perth, currently based in Sydney, who works across painting, photography, video, installation and performance. As a self described ‘outsider amongst outsiders’, his practice is primarily concerned with the experience of the ‘other’ in society. Abdullah’s projects have engaged with different marginalised minority groups and he is particularly interested in the experience of young Muslims in the contemporary multicultural Australian context, as well as connecting with creative communities throughout the Asia Pacific.
24 Jan: Resist Exhibition Opening by The Bloom Collective
The Bloom Collective is a group of multi-disciplinary artists aged 14-25 from the Sunshine Coast region. The Bloom Collective was established to showcase local young talent and provide a space for expression and activism for and by young people. RESIST is the official launch exhibition for The Bloom Collective taking place January 24 ahead of Invasion Day. Hosted at The Old Ambo Station, Nambour, Resist will feature a broad variety of works from local young people responding to the theme of Resistance and what it means to them. The exhibition will showcase visual art, photography, poetry, writing, pottery, film, live music and pop-up shops from local creators.

26 Jan: Gubbi Gubbi Day at Alley Cat
On the 26th of January Alley Cat are launching their first ever Gubbi Gubbi Day. They would like to celebrate and acknowledge the traditional land owners with a BIG JUICY SUNDAY SESH. Dear Doonan, Flooded Gum and Luke Anthony will be joining them for an afternoon filled with sweet sweet tunes, beers, cocktails and tacos!

A night for the local creatives of the Sunshine Coast to share & collaborate with their talents, to network and come together as artists/musicians/writers etc. This wonderful night held at Foxy On Coolum is welcome to all, whether you would like to share or just listen, enjoy & meet some lovely new faces.
29 Jan: Enviroforum - Solving Nature's Conservation Problems
Land & Sea are diving straight into the big issues this month as they kick off the first Enviroforum event for 2020. As Australia experiences one of it's largest natural disasters in history, Land & Sea are privileged to welcome World- renowned Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy, Dr. Hugh Possingham to their next “Science Meets Beer” event. In the face of possible runaway climate change there's never been a more important time to join the conversation. So come along, learn and drink great beers with like minded people. Special guests are The Sunshine Coast Design Strategy Team, Sarah Chalkley, Chris Hodgson and Erin Johnston who will present the newly released Sunshine Coast Design book.
