Festival basecamp is the place to hang out, have fun, slow down, chill. It's your hub for Horizon. From 9am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday, come and settle in for the day – live acoustic music in the air, soft play for little ones, glitter, face paint and arts and crafts to keep creative hands busy.
Enjoy a vibrant program featuring live music from Will Outridge and Ria Ritchie, creative workshops including The Song Shed and A Little Creative’s robot-themed drop-in art session, plus interactive entertainment like balloon animals and face painting with Be Amazed Entertainment, alongside food and drink from Colombian Coffee Co., Qubrews, Mr Pulled and Tiki Bowl, with giant games available throughout.
Paint, build and imagine the technologies of tomorrow in this hands-on Robot Design workshop with local artist and teacher Lindy Saunders.
With 16 years teaching all ages on the Sunshine Coast, Lindy has a special love for working with our youngest creators and helping their parents nurture more creativity at home.
Designed for children aged 2 and up, this session invites little ones and their grown-ups to explore paint, collage, playdough and 3D construction using recycled and upcycled household materials. Come ready to make something wonderfully weird.
Turning Old Stuff into Super Ideas with Dan Munday invites kids to discover the power of creativity through reuse and imagination. Drawing on his experience as a Survivor challenge producer and creator of Kangamoo & the Not New Crew, Dan inspires children to RE‑Use, RE‑Purpose and RE‑Imagine everyday “junk.” Through storytelling, games and hands‑on activities, kids design their own Frankenbeasts and Supertoys, leaving inspired, resourceful, and ready to turn old stuff into something extraordinary.
A heads up – photography and filming may take place during Horizon events for promotional use. If you’d prefer not to be in any of the shots, please chat to one of our Horizon staff on the day.
We strive to ensure our programs and events are inclusive and accessible to everyone. If you have any accessibility requirements, including Auslan Interpreters, mobility assistance, hearing support, or other accommodations, please contact our team at [email protected].
