The Montville Timber Trail celebrates local craftsmanship, cultural heritage, and the region’s deep connection to timber traditions. Across a full weekend, artists, woodworkers, toolmakers, and designers come together for demonstrations, exhibitions, timber sales, and hands-on experiences that honour the craft shaping the Hinterland.
A highlight of the Timber Trail is hosting the prestigious Sunshine Coast Wootha Prize – a nationally recognised woodworking competition attracting leading furniture makers, sculptors, and contemporary designers from across Australia. This award celebrates excellence in furniture design, sculpture, and fine craftsmanship.
Spread across four charming venues within walking distance, this free event invites you to explore Montville’s beautiful streets. Begin with a coffee at a local café, then wander to St Mary’s Church Hall for woodworking inspiration. Continue to the Village Hall for live demonstrations and hands-on workshops, browse handmade designer products at the Makers’ Design Fair, and finish at Montvale for the official 2026 Wootha Prize Exhibition.
