17 Aug - 7 Nov: Michael Cook 'Undiscovered'
The first career survey of Australian artist, Michael Cook. Over the last decade, Michael Cook has produced photo media works that interrogate the legacy of colonisation in Australia. From his reflections on the political leadership of Australia and his revisioning of colonial history; to his rethinking of assimilation and the great Australian dream, Cook has consistently made images that ask the viewer to reconsider Australia’s conflicted history and its impact on the political, social and personal of our present day.

Sat 19 Sept - Mon 12 Oct: Botanical Colouring Exhibition
The Sunshine Coast Natural Dyers Group (SCNDIG) Biennial Exhibition is on again from the 19th of September to the 12th of October at the Arts and Ecology Centre, Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens. Over 20 exhibiting members of SCNDIG will showcase their artworks consisting of garments, paintings, sculpture & weaving, all being coloured and printed with plants and earth pigments.

Mon 28 Sept: Beer Yoga at Your Mates Brewhouse
Back by popular demand, Beer Yoga is back at Your Mates Brewhouse! This beer yoga event is a fundraising initiative under the combined forces of Reef Check Australia and Your Mates Brewing. The hour-long session will see punters getting bendy, with beer-drinking incorporated into each classic yoga pose. Think sun salutations and reverse warriors, interspersed with sips of your favourite ale. Brydie O’Halloran from Younion Yoga, a qualified vinyasa yoga instructor (and seasoned beer drinker) will get you loose, limber, and having fun — whether you're a total yoga novice, or a well-practiced pro.

Thur 1 Oct - Mon 5 Oct: Caloundra Mini Festival featuring Luminate
The mini festival will showcase over 75 music and visual artists across eight venues in Caloundra, a real treat for music and arts lovers. And, just for the long weekend (Fri-Sun), Luminate! a free three-night walk through festival will light up Caloundra between 6 and 10pm, in conjunction with a special return of the Twilight Markets, the boardwalk along The Esplanade and Felicity Park will be fully immersed in light installations created by Sunshine Coast artists.

Fri 2 Oct: Place2Wonder
Artist Kellie O’Dempsey’s Street Love celebrates community space as a place of consideration and wonder. Kellie invites audiences to share in a participatory exchange through perceptual experience incorporating projection, video, collage and digital drawing. Street Love includes artwork by Adam Anderson, CLUNKK (Sophie Reid-Singer) and Mick Dick. Together these artists explore the relationship between the physical environment, light, and colour utilising video to create new interpretations of familiar places. 

Fri 2 Oct: Nights on Ocean
Come join us as Ocean Street comes ALIVE with a fiesta of culture and colour, celebrating the unique customs and cuisines from around the globe on the first Friday of every month. The Iconic Nights on Ocean is a feast for the senses, a smorgasbord of international street food vendors, handcrafted goods of desire and incredible live music presented by Liquid Radio.

Sun 4 Oct: StrEATside at The Met
A new weekly street food market in the heart of the new Maroochydore City Centre, every Sunday 11am-8pm. Enjoy delicious food from 20 street food vendors, sip on craft beer and cocktails (from Your Mates Brewing Co.) and wine, watch 6 hours of live music, play lawn games and relax under the shade of umbrellas in a family-friendly atmosphere. Like a Sunday ‘picnic in the park’ … but you don’t have to bring anything!

Sun 4 Oct: Caloundra Artist Market
Join us for a day of art & music inside the iconic Strand building located at the top end of Bulcock Street. There will be live music and plenty of locally made artworks for purchase.

Sun 4 Oct: Oskar Campbell 'Turn Out the Lights' EP Release at Solbar
This Sunshine Coast based chiller has found his place, pulling on heartstrings and sharing his story through music. Oskar’s unmistakable sound combines smooth elements of soft rock, soul and pop that work together to create a sentimental, heartfelt and often romantic atmosphere. Oskar’s music simulates a sense of familiarity and comfortability through his thoughtful songwriting, warm, soul-filled vocals and tastefully melodic guitar playing.

Thur 8 Oct: Place2Create
Keeping in sync with the changing times, Artist Kevin McMachon proposes a new location for his NUF installation, incorporating his elements of tinkering with word play, backward fun and projection. Kevin collected word art from the community, inspired by contemplations of what characterises 'shedding or shackled' in current times. CAPITAL NUF invites you to the Art's Hub in the Strand to view the completion of the Place2Play Project, showing from Thursday 8 October.

Thur 8 Oct: Tassel Earring Workshop at Club Creative
Join us to create some small tassel earrings in this raffia tassel earring workshop for beginners! In this workshop, students will learn how to make raffia tassels in your favourite colour and use them to create their very own statement earrings. Pricing per person includes professional instruction, all materials and tools, and a silky take-home jewellery bag.

Fri 9 Oct: Zebra Finch at Solbar
Zebra Finch are a Sunshine Coast band of few words and many talents. With a diverse roster of multi-instrumentalists, Zebra Finch have equipped themselves for their expectant success. Zebra Finch has the clear sonic influences of classic, psychedelic and surf rock, blues, soul and funk. Blending the tastes and influences of all members, they have created a sound that’s uniquely theirs. Overflowing with justified confidence in the music they make, Zebra Finch is on the rise, and they have no intention of slowing down anytime soon. 

Fri 9 Oct - Sun 18 Oct: Noosa Open Studios
Noosa Open Studios provides locals and visitors to our beautiful region on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, with the unique chance to visit artists in their private studios over several days. Whilst there, visitors can learn about the artists’ creative processes, see their work and perhaps even make an art investment to call their own!

 

Fri 9 Oct: Wine & Ceramics at Club Creative
In this workshop for beginners you will learn to create a pinch pot vessel from clay which you will then come back to custom glaze in the second session. Wine down.. did I say that right? With our wine and ceramics workshop over 2 sessions: Friday October 9th & Friday October 23rd 6-7:30pm.
