17 Aug - 7 Nov: Michael Cook 'Undiscovered'
The first career survey of Australian artist, Michael Cook. Over the last decade, Michael Cook has produced photo media works that interrogate the legacy of colonisation in Australia. From his reflections on the political leadership of Australia and his revisioning of colonial history; to his rethinking of assimilation and the great Australian dream, Cook has consistently made images that ask the viewer to reconsider Australia’s conflicted history and its impact on the political, social and personal of our present day.
Thur 17 Sept: Design Flicks
Join The MET for their latest Design Flicks, sreening A Fundació Mies van der Rohe & Nihao Films documentary. This is the story of a building that changed the history of architecture. Its construction and subsequent reconstruction in two key moments of Barcelona immerse us in a reflection on the perception of art, space and the concept of masterpiece.

Music fans and trivia lovers, have we got a hot deal for you: Solbar's famous trivia nights are BACK. On the first and third Thursday of each month, the host with the most Tommy brings you a slew of questions, games, lols and good times. So get ya mates together, grab a few cold ones, and show us what you're made of. It's FREE to play and there's no minimum size for a team.
Fri 18 Sept: ResArtDesigns Eco Resin Botanical Earrings Trio Workshop
This workshop includes a variety of mostly hand collected dried flowers & leaves, gold, silver & copper foil, mica flakes, mold to use, eco resin, apron, mask, gloves, mixing cups & stirrers & all other materials needed... just bring your creative self! You will be guided to choose your mould, select your beautiful botanicals, work out a design, measure, mix and pour the resin. Your piece will then be left at the studio to cure for 4 days, after which you will be emailed to organise a studio appointment to finish your piece.

We have a local artist who will show you step by step on how to create the featured painting or feel free to paint your own masterpiece! All art materials are supplied including a 40cm x 50cm canvas for you to take home. No experience necessary!

Sun 20 Sept: StrEATside at The Met
A new weekly street food market in the heart of the new Maroochydore City Centre, every Sunday 11am-8pm. Enjoy delicious food from 20 street food vendors, sip on craft beer and cocktails (from Your Mates Brewing Co.) and wine, watch 6 hours of live music, play lawn games and relax under the shade of umbrellas in a family-friendly atmosphere. Like a Sunday ‘picnic in the park’ … but you don’t have to bring anything!
Sun 20 Sept: Jack Botts at Solbar
Jack Botts is excited to announce a fresh handful of intimate shows to celebrate the release of his new single ‘Hold You’ that will be released on August 28th. Spending the last 18 months on the road across Australia and on the streets of Byron Bay, Jack has coupled headline shows with supporting the likes of Tash Sultana, John Floreani, Pierce Brothers, Ash Grunwald and more. Added to that, Jack has also played festivals such as Land Of Plenty, St. Kilda Festival, The Hills Are Alive and Mountain Goat Valley Crawl. Jack invites you to enjoy a night of songs, stories and good vibes, surrounded by friends in a uniquely intimate setting.
Wed 23 Sept: Amanda Davidson Surf & Skate Art Workshop
Have lots of fun while creating your own piece of art with local surf artist Amanda Davidson. This ocean and skate inspired workshop is for 2.5 hours and is for kids 8yrs to adults of any age. The space we have allows everyone to work at their own level and pace. All supplies are included and you will take home a "ready to hang" piece of art.
Wed 23 Sept: From the Artist: Raquel Ormella
Raquel Ormella, Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2017 winner joins Collections Curator Nina Shadforth on Facebook live 7pm, 23 September. Ormella's practice encompasses material forms often associated with social and political activism, such as banners, flags, video, pamphlets and zines. She is interested in the collision of art and activism and the complex relationship between humans and the natural environment.
Fri 25 Sept: Good Chats
Good Chats is a monthly networking series hosted by Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance at Sub Tropic Studio. For the next installment, hear from creatives Timothy Birch and Jules Laidlaw of The Clay Society, plus enjoy a delicious free brew from Seven Miles Coffee Roasters. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only limited numbers are allowed, so be sure to book ahead.

Our community is brimming with some seriously talented female artists, and if you ask Women by Abby Rose? It’s time to show them off. From Friday 25 September - Saturday 17 October, they’ll be doing just that. The Woman of Art exhibition will take over Thomas Surfboards in Noosaville for three whole weeks, showcasing established and emerging artists in all their creative glory. Painting and drawing? Of course. Photography? Definitely. Ceramics? 100%. There’s over 20 local and talented women involved — none of which are ordinary.
