Join us as we Rewind and reminisce on some of Horizon Festival’s most loved events from 2018 and 2019.
Whether you missed the original performance or just want to relive the magic, Rewind is the perfect way to experience art from the comfort of your own home.
In June, we reminisced on the incredibly special A Galaxy of Suns performance held at Bankfoot House against a backdrop of Mt Tibrogargan in August 2019. A Galaxy of Suns is a spectacular 36-part choir performance that ‘sings’ the stars as they rise and set over the 360˚ of our horizon. Tracking the Earth’s motions through space, the work documents in real-time the audience’s precise position in relation to the stars, sonifying stellar data in a unique celebration of the majesty and beauty of the cosmos. As we recaped this stunning performance, we also heard from lead artist Michaela Gleave to explain how the work transverses contemporary art, music, astronomy and design.
In July, we reminisced on Elements, an ephemeral sculpture exhibition that was set amongst the beautiful backdrop of the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens. Elements was a stunning exhibition that transformed our beautiful Botanic Gardens from a natural paradise to a contemporary outdoor gallery. Exhibition curator, Hamish Sawyer, will reminisce on the event, talking us through the featured artworks and installations from the leading local and national artists who drew inspiration from the elements; fire, earth, air, and water.
In August, we reminisced on Horizon Festival's 2018 event, Dawn Awakening. Dawn Awakening is a special First Nation-focused event that has won a place in the hearts and minds of the Sunshine Coast community. On the final day of Horizon Festival, our community gathers before dawn at Stumers Creek, Coolum Beach to witness a beautiful multi-arts celebration of remembrance, dreaming and ritual.
