GooseChase FAQ

What is GooseChase?

GooseChase is an interactive scavenger hunt platform for the masses. With in-app rankings and photo feeds, it's bold, crazy and highly addictive.

What is Horizon Festival's GooseChase all about?

Horizon’s GooseChase will provide players with fun an interactive ways to experience the festival’s 200+ events while they explore the Sunshine Coast region during 10 art-fuelled days of Horizon Festival. We're offering players the chance to create teams or play solo, and get creative exploring arts & culture within our region. With events for the whole family, there is something for everyone, you might even be surprised by what you come across during your adventure hunt...!

How does the game work?

Once you join the horizonartfest GooseChase, there will be a number of missions to complete from 18 August, during the lead up to the festival.

To complete a mission, you must select it from the list and follow the instructions to receive the allotted points. Missions may ask you to do a range of things, like uploading a photo or video, checking into a specific location or solving a puzzle or riddle. Remember that while you receive the points right away, all submissions are subject to review by the Horizon team. If your submission is especially creative, you may even be awarded bonus points!

The ability to see everything as it happens is one of the best parts of GooseChase. That's because whenever someone completes a mission, it’s added to the activity feed and the rankings are automatically updated.

If you’re as competitive as we are, you’ll realize how awesome this is! At any given moment, you know exactly how you’re doing and what needs to be done to win.

When time runs out, the game may be done, but the fun is definitely not over, because we'll still need to announce the final scores after all submissions are reviewed. This is why you should always push hard until the very end, because you don't know if the teams ahead of you will have taken any shortcuts!

So is it kind of like Pokemon Go?

Yes and no. GooseChase is like Pokemon Go in the way that it is an interactive platform that provides results in real-time and has location-based tasks using GPS technology. But unlike Pokemon, where the goal is to virtually catch Pokemon, GooseChase tasks are completed by submitting images, videos and location tags with the most creative spin you can think of!

Are there prizes?

You bet! Spot prizes will be awarded along the way- many aligned with particular missions. The team with the most points (remembering extra points are awarded for creativity...) will receive the major prize package including a trip for four to Adelaide Fringe Festival 2018 where you can take on the goose again!

When does it start?

The Horizon GooseChase will run from 18 August - 3 September as part of Horizon Festival. GooseChase is a great way to discover the festival, get creative and have fun.

What will I need?

You will need a mobile phone and a mode of transport as some tasks require you to visit locations across the Sunshine Coast!

How do I get involved?

Grab a friend, invite the family and create a team, remember the more people on your team, the more you can share and allocate tasks among its members. Or if you have a competitive side and want to take on the challenges on your own, we encourage you to compete solo! Whatever you choose, we know you are in for a blast!
